Google And Shopify Join Hands To Revolutionize Online Shopping Experience

Sharing is caring!

Google, the tech giant, has partnered with Shopify by making it easier for the e-commerce platform’s 1.7 million merchants to reach customers through Google Search and other Google apps and services. Merchants will be able to sign up in just a few clicks to have their goods appear across Google’s 1 billion “shopping journeys”  via Search, Maps, Images, Lens, and YouTube.

Bill Ready, president of commerce and payments at Google, remarked: “This new collaboration with Shopify will enable merchants to become discoverable to high-intent consumers across Google Search, Shopping, YouTube, Google Images, and more.”

The company made its appeal to online marketers, explaining how its “Shopping Graph” will begin to bring information together from across websites, price reviews, videos, and product data directly from brands and retailers to better educate online shoppers on where to find products, how well they were received, which merchant has the best price, and more. This Shopping Graph can be used across all Google’s sites, whether anyone is searching for items on Google or watching videos on YouTube.

For instance, if anyone now sees screenshots of products in Google Photos, then there would be a suggestion to search the photo using Google Lens to help them find the item for sale.

Google hasn’t released any details about the new process yet, but the idea is that it would make it easier for Shopify merchants to list their items on Google’s shopping surfaces, which have seen a surge in popularity in the last year.

Over the last year, Google claims to have seen a 70% rise in the size of its product catalog and an 80% increase in merchants on its website. Last April, Google eliminated all fees for Google Shopping product listings to assist retailers seeking to change their attention in the face of the pandemic.

The increased ability to meet more searchers is appealing, and as more items are added to Google’s framework, it’s becoming a more effective eCommerce discovery assistant. And now, with the evolution of its ‘Shopping Graph,’ Google is looking to drive it even further.

In addition, Google is also introducing a new feature in its Chrome web browser that operates locally on a user’s computer and allows them to see their open carts when they open a new tab. Users will pick up their shopping where they left off if they take a break or go to another place.
