The social networking giant, Instagram, will be completing ten years on October 6, 2020. On the occasion, the App announces several new features like Stories Map, hiding potentially offensive comments, and expanding nudge warnings that can be utilized as out-of-the-box Instagram marketing services by businesses.
In the company blog, Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram, says, “We’re dropping some new features that we hope you’ll enjoy, but we also want to say a big thank-you to everyone who uses Instagram around the world. I’m proud of where we are today, but I’m thinking a lot about where we’re going.”
Adam added that the company has witnessed a significant shift in the way people are creating and enjoying the culture. So, in the coming months, the users could see substantial changes like tabs for Reels and some significant improvements in messages on the platform.
The main focus of adding new features to Instagram is to keep people safe and build features to stop bullying and address fairness in the social media platform.
The new features that will be launched on the 10-birthday of Instagram are:
Users will get a personal calendar and map their stories to check out the shared information in the last three years. This way, people can look back into their favorite moments and cherish it forever. You can also download and save the stories in your highlights.
Hiding Potentially Offensive Comments
Instagram is also coming up with a new feature where they will be hiding comments similar to those reported according to the app’s Community Guidelines. To check out which comments have been hidden, users can tap “View Hidden Comments.”
Expanding Nudge Warnings
Like the one above, if users continuously post offensive comments, they might receive a warning. These warnings will throw light on the user’s mind and prevent them from posting such comments in the future.
