Facebook, the social media giant, has partnered with the central government to launch a vaccine finder tool on its mobile application that will help people find nearby places to get vaccinated at the right time.

Earlier, Facebook has announced a USD 10 million grant to provide immediate relief in response to the COVID-19 situation in the country. The newly launched vaccine tracker tool will enable users to discover the nearest vaccine center locations and their operating hours.

Facebook stated that for those who are 45 years and older, this feature would show walk-in options, as well as a link to register and schedule vaccination appointments on the Cowin website.

The company said in a post, “With the help and support of the Government of India, we will introduce a new Vaccine Finder tool on the Facebook mobile app, which will be available in 17 regional languages and guide people through vaccination centers near them.”

To improve the condition of Covid 19 in India, Facebook is also collaborating with NGOs and agencies such as United Way, Swasth, Hemkunt Foundation; I Am Gurgaon, Project Mumbai, and the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) to help develop a stock of essential medical supplies, including over 5,000 oxygen concentrators and other life-saving equipment such as ventilators and BiPAP machines.

Facebook also stated that UNICEF India would provide information on obtaining emergency treatment and how to treat mild Covid-19 symptoms at home through the Covid-19 Information Center.
