Instagram Adds 7 New Features For Quick Replies, Lo-fi Chat, Music Sharing, and More

Sharing is caring!

Instagram, the pinnacle social media app commonly known as a millennial’s photo-sharing app, has added seven new features to its messaging segment that will start rolling globally soon.

With direct messaging becoming a more significant part of the Instagram experience, the meta-owned app announced seven new features to be rolled out globally. The raft of messaging upgrades includes sharing music previews, silent messaging, seeing active people, lo-fi chat, squad poll, quick replies, and a quick post sharing option.

At the end of last year, Meta’s spokesperson said, “we are making more investments in messaging to help you connect with your closed friends in more fun and seamless ways.”

These updates for the messaging segment are part of the ongoing work to improve how you connect and share with your friends.

First off, Instagram is adding a new “Reply while you browse” feature, enabling users to reply to a message in-stream without taping through your DM inbox.

Earlier, to reply to a DM- one would have to go back and forth during a browsing session. As the company notes, the new features make it “easier and more convenient to chat while on the app,” as the company notes.

Users will now be able to share a post with their friends by tapping and holding the share button. The new feature will show the names of top friends with whom you often conversate when you press and hold the ‘share’ button on any post.

Like Messenger, you will now be able to see the number of active people on Instagram. Choose your friends from the list and enjoy free chatting- Although many of you might have seen this already.

Instagram collaborates with Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Spotify to introduce quick music previews. The feature will allow users to share a 30-sec preview of the song they are listening to, and a preview can be played directly from the chat window.

The new silent message feature allows users to send messages without notifying friends. So, if you want to pass some information to your friends late at night and might not want to disturb them- the silent feature will make that possible.

The meta team also introduces the lo-fi chat theme to make your conversations feel more personal. Along with that, Instagram adds the ability to create a poll question in group conversations. Earlier the feature was part of Messenger and is now coming to Instagram’s group chat.

Ain’t that good? Well, certainly getting suggestions from your friends is always best.

Currently, the features are available in a few countries; however, the company plans to extend these updates globally over the coming weeks.
