Microsoft Brings Open-Source Procmon To Linux

Sharing is caring!

Historically, Microsoft was known to be an enemy of the open source community. Lately, the Windows-maker has decided to become an ally of the open source community. In fact, Microsoft is now an open source champion under the leadership of Satya Nadella. Crazy, right?

Microsoft recently revealed its newest open-source Linux software ProcMon for Linux, which is a reimagined and rewritten version of its Processor Monitor found on Windows within their Sysinternals suite.

The ProcMoon tool is a C++-written, open-source process monitor for Linux that has the potential to provide convenience to trace system call activity. This ProcMon Linux version is open-source under an MIT license.

On Thursday, Microsoft released the source code to its ProcMon Linux version and marked it as a 1.0 preview release.
